  • Beautiful national park! We've been here a few times already and still love it. We had parking reservations and that was a breeze to get in and park. We went as a family of 5 adults and 3 kids so we opted for the Muir Woods membership as it was more cost effective compared to buying entrance tickets (thanks to the employee who pointed this out!) We did the longest loop with the kids (ages 4-8) and they did great!

  • This is the most beautiful forest I have ever been in. The redwoods are so amazing. The drive to Muir Woods was an adventure itself, coming from Florida, it was quite an experience to drive next to the edge of a mountain. My advice, go slow and don't fall over! Make sure to make parking reservations ahead of time. We entered the park and the kids did the junior ranger book. Just ask at the entrance if you have kids to get the book to do as you go through the park. The entire main area is boardwalks and very even and easy to navigate. Strollers and wheelchairs are no problem here. They have loops for the main trails and bridges to head back the other way. It's really well done. We did the medium loop, and crossed back at bridge 3. The way back was really neat because there were huge redwoods right near the path. And one with a hollow bottom that you could stand in. Amazing photo opportunities here. As you leave it you finish the Jr. Ranger book, they will call a park ranger to talk to the kids and swear them in as Jr. Rangers. It's a great experience and the kids learn a lot. Fantastic program. We spent 2.5 hours at a very very leisurely pace and stopped to sit for a while and take so many photos. Gift shop is also really great.

  • What a great place, my family and I feel like in a dream or in a movie!! This place was superb and much better than how people talk of it! Can wait to going back and take another ton of pictures and videos! This is highly recommended spot if you visiti San Francisco! And is right across the Golden Gate Bridge, which make the visit even more amazing!!

  • As a solo traveler without a car, this park was quite inaccessible. I had to take multiple buses and an Uber to arrive. It was a windy drive up the mountain for anyone who experiences motion sickness. There is no shuttle service on weekdays and I ended up needing to hitch a ride to get back down the mountain. Despite the arduous journey to the park, I loved it! It costs $15. Head to the bathroom by the cafe before you take off on your hike. The facilities were decent. I took the main path and turned right on the Lost Trail. It took me about 1 hour to hike 1.5 miles up the mountain. I took frequent breaks to rest and enjoy the scenery. The trail was a steady uphill and moderately difficult. It was mostly shaded which was great. I hiked an additional 15 minutes up to the panoramic viewpoint which gave a nice view of the treetops and surrounding mountains. This is a sunny trail. I climbed down to the Fern Creek. This portion of the trail had a lot of steps and mostly downhill. There is a quiet babbling creek. Eventually this path leads to the main trail. I was quite tired by the end. It was a great loop for hikers looking for a moderate challenge and a path less traveled. However, if you're merely looking to see the Redwoods, stay on the paved main trail.

  • Always wanted to see the redwoods but was in a wheelchair during my trip due to an injury so I was worried I wouldn't get the full experience. The woods were VERY accessible, even past the point that is ADA approved the dirt paths were relatively flat and some of it was paved/wooden for a good few miles. My family pushed my wheelchair on our walk with little difficulty and I got to experience the beauty of muir woods!

  • Call ahead for reservations. All the trails were packed but I can see why. All the Redwood trees are massive! You can do easy to intermediate trails here. Pack a light coat as it's about 20 degrees cooler here with not much direct sunlight. They do have a deli that serves gourmet sandwiches and offers refrigerated beverages. The gift shop has plenty of souvenirs as well. We always grab a magnets and Christmas tree ornaments.

  • Wow, what a humble experience it was to be in the presence of such beauty and magnitude. This was our first time visiting Muir Woods and it will certainly not be our last. Everything about the park amazes you, from the well coordinated logistics to access and park (which you do it well in advance), to the signage throughout, to the well marked trails. We took the Fern Creek & Canopy Trail and it was great, but steep and tiring. A full 3 hours hike! If taking this trail, I suggest starting from the visitors center up Canopy Trail first and then Fern Vreek to Redwood. The slope is gentle this way vs. a stairway up if taking Fern Creek first. Trust me, you'll thank me later. ;) Overall, the Redwoods are majestic and pure. The air was fresh and pure. The sounds of nature were reassuring. Life at its best!

  • Beautiful and peaceful park. Need reservations for parking after pandemic and we made one for 8:30am through online. Early morning arrivals are always good. Well maintained park and trails to spend a day under big and small redwood trees. Lot of Redwood trees and you will be able to walk or hike always under the shade.
