Ruby Beach

Ruby Beach is the northernmost of the southern beaches in the coastal section of Olympic National Park in the U.S. state of Washington. It is located on Highway 101, in Jefferson County, 27 miles (43 km) south of the town of Forks.
Like virtually all beaches on the northern coast, Ruby Beach has a tremendous amount of driftwood. It is notable for the number of sea stacks there.
The beach is so called because of the ruby-like crystals in the beach sand.Destruction Island is located about 4 miles southwest off the beach. The island and the Destruction Island Lighthouse can be seen from the beach.

  • This is a must see beach especially at low tide. The tide pools are loaded with marine life like starfish, sea anemones, crabs, fish, etc. Get there early. The parking lot was full, and cars were parked on both sides of the road all the way back to U.S. Hwy 101. Nice wide trail down to beach. Great viewing areas from the top if you are unable to walk down. Restrooms available in the parking area. Dog friendly beach, but they must be on a leash. Check the tide charts and get out there. A photographer's dream.

  • Ruby Beach is stunning, with stones instead of sand and beautiful driftwood lining the beach. I’ll come here every year if I can.

  • Wow! Just wow! I could’ve stayed here for days. It was so peaceful and the views were simply breathtaking. My favorite part was how the forest came right up to the beach and the minute you stepped out of the trees you landed on this glistening space filled with majestic rocks, driftwood “huts” and benches, and the sound of the ocean. Our stay was brief but we took some time to walk down a ways and really admire the rocks in the ocean. We played frisbee and each took time to find a spot to just sit and reflect. Absolutely worth stopping here whether for an hour (like us) or the whole day!

  • Very scenic beach. Great to walk around and easy path from the parking lot to the beach. Can get crowded. Hilarious that google says this is in Forks that is a ways away but likely the biggest nearby town.
