Εθνικό πάρκο Αψίδων (Arches National Park)
To Εθνικό πάρκο αψίδων (αγγλικά: Arches National Park) είναι Εθνικό Πάρκο στην ανατολική Γιούτα των ΗΠΑ, βόρεια του ποταμού Κολοράντο. Είναι γνωστό για την ύπαρξη πάνω από 2000 φυσικών αψίδων από ψαμμίτη, όπως η παγκοσμίως διάσημη Delicate Arch, πέρα από μια ποικιλία μοναδικών γεωλογικών σχηματισμών, όπως ο γιγάντιος ισορροπημένος βράχος. Το πάρκο βρίσκεται ακριβώς έξω από το Μοάμπ (Moab) της Γιούτα και έχει έκταση 310 τ.χλμ.. Το 2009 το πάρκο επισκέφθηκαν περίπου ένα εκατομμύριο άτομα. Το μεγαλύτερο υψόμετρό του είναι 1.723 μ. στο Elephant Butte, και το χαμηλότερο υψόμετρό του είναι 1.245 μ. στο κέντρο επισκεπτών. Σαράντα τρία τόξα έχουν καταρρεύσει εξαιτίας της διάβρωσης από το 1970. Διοικούμενη από την Εθνική Υπηρεσία Πάρκων, η περιοχή είχε αρχικά οριστεί ως Εθνικό Μνημείο στις 12 Απριλίου 1929. Αναπροσδιορίστηκε ως Εθνικό Πάρκο στις 12 Νοεμβρίου 1971.
Οι περισσότερες από τις συνθέσεις του πάρκου είναι φτιαγμένες από μαλακό κόκκινο ψαμμίτη που συσσωρεύθηκε 150 εκατομμύρια χρόνια πριν. Πολύ αργότερα, τα υπόγεια ύδατα άρχισαν να διαλύουν τις βαθύτερες αποθέσεις άλατος. Οι θόλοι ψαμμίτη κατέρρευσαν και διαβρώθηκαν σχηματίζοντας ένα λαβύρινθο από κάθετες πλάκες βράχου που ονομάζονται «πτερύγια». Τμήματα των λεπτών αυτών τειχών τελικά διαβρώθηκαν, δημιουργώντας τα γλυπτά από βράχο που υπάρχουν σήμερα στη περιοχή.

Absolutely stunning. A lot of amazing trails (kid friendly too!). One of the most spectacular places I have ever been. Highly recommend. Defintely hike Delicate Arch early it gets crowded and hot. Hidden Gem: Sand Dune Arch

Top 3 national parks in the US! The scenery is unbeatable. There is so much to see, can’t possibly be done in 1 day. Make sure you have a few days here to explore. It’s about a 4 hr drive from SLC. During the summer it is very hot so be prepared with lots of water and sun gear. Enjoy!!

Amazing national park. It is a must go! I went during august, which was warm in the days but cool at night and very early morning. There were less people during the week. Plan on bringing water or fill up at the visitors center. The hikes to the arches that were visible were short and could be completed by almost anyone. I hiked to delicate arch early morning one day (6:30am) and the parking lot was starting to fill out. GET THERE EARLY IF YOU WANT TO DO THIS HIKE. It is a difficult hike depending on your age and body condition, but the pay off is with it. YOU MUST return at night to see the night sky. Simply spectacular. Panorama point fills up quickly at night. I would suggest drive past it and find a good spot on the side. There are plenty of views and hikes to last you at least three days.

What ana amazing NP! A bit too touristy but definitely worth it. Make sure you go off season or early in the morning and avoid the crowds. Be aware that if there is too many people they close the entrance temporarily.

Amazing views! It’s a short hike up to Delicate Arch. Totally worth the drive and hike. We got to the parking lot at 8am and it was already full. Go early beat the crowds and the heat and see some amazing features.

What a great national park! Of the Utah 5 it is one of the most unique ones for sure. The arches are all beautiful. God truly created some masterpieces here.

So unbelievably beautiful. We went for the sunrise and I HIGHLY recommend that. Wear good hiking boots and prepare to drive for a while to get where you want to be in the park. Parking fills up quick, so arrive early!

I love this place! This was my first time in this national park and I enjoyed my time there. There is a lot of arches and rocks where you can take incredible pictures! Great spots in each trail! I highly recommend this National Park and I would like to come back soon! Visit it! You will love it.
