Tracy Arm
Der Tracy Arm ist ein enger Fjord mit steilen, bis zu 1000 m hohen Felswänden, Gletschern und Wasserfällen im US-Bundesstaat Alaska, 70 km südlich von Juneau. Er ist etwa 50 km lang und zu 20 % von Eis bedeckt. Am Fjordende befinden sich die Zungen der beiden Gletscher Sawyer und South Sawyer. Benannt wurde der Fjord nach Benjamin F. Tracy, einem General des Sezessionskriegs und US-Marineminister.
Er liegt im Tongass National Forest an der Stephens Passage, einer Meerenge im Alexanderarchipel. 1980 wurden der Tracy Arm zusammen mit dem parallel verlaufenden Endicott Arm sowie deren Umgebung mit insgesamt über 2640 km² vom Kongress der Vereinigten Staaten unter dem Namen Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness zum Wilderness Area erklärt, der strengsten Klasse von Naturschutzgebieten der Vereinigten Staaten, in der die menschlichen Eingriffe in die Natur minimal sind.

We made the trip to Juneau to explore Tracy Arm Fjord. It was an amazing day. The ice bergs were so blue and the glaciers enormous. It’s difficult to tell from pictures how spectacular it all was in person.

Tracy Arm is a Y shaped fiord ends of which terminate in glaciers. Along the way are icebergs, bears, and seals. We were lucky and witnessed a calving of big chunks of blue ice.

Beautiful fjord. Some of the prettiest landscape I have ever seen. I cannot recommend it enough. We went after a rain, so there were waterfalls everywhere. If you can get a tour boat into the fjord, take the opportunity. It is worth it.

Been there a few years ago with a carnival cruise and it was the most amazing this I have ever seen. I love nature so much and this was just a dream come true to see with my own eyes.. I wish I'd go back there in the future..

Words cannot describe how beautiful this place is, so I am not even going to try. Safe to say if you can do this in your lifetime, you should. Just breathtaking experience that I shall remember forever.

Beautiful fjord with a huge glacier at the end ,large parts of the glacier are in the water on the right up the arm in almost turqoise water
