Park Narodowy Shenandoah (ang. Shenandoah National Park) – park narodowy położony w USA w stanie Wirginia, w Paśmie Błękitnym. Najwyżej położonym punktem parku jest szczyt góry Hawksbill o wysokości 1234 m n.p.m.
Fantastic National Park. There are plenty of places to stay inside of the park, so it's easy to spend many days here without having to leave. The park also has a gas station with essentials (ice, food, souvenirs, super glue even), so you can always stop by there if you need something. As far as the views itself, there is so much to see. Just driving through Skyline Drive, you can stop at plenty of overlooks to check out the scenery. Beyond that, there are many great hikes within the park that have vastly different geometric features, making it a fantastic place to view various kinds of nature. Highly recommend coming here. You can spend just a day or two seeing the highlights or even a week poring through everything that the park has to offer. Definitely worth a trip.
We enjoyed the camping and the ranger star talk Thursday night. The four mile round trip hike to the President Hoover Camp and, talk by the volunteer guide was outstanding! The bathrooms at Great Meadows Camp ground were nice but, the showers need some work. There was only one hook to hang towels or clothes on. The doors are hard to open when inside. They need handles installed to pull on. The shower curtains were old and hung too high allowing the whole floor to get wet. The faucet fell apart when using it. Big reminder: Do not leave anything that has a smell outside the car or bear locker. We were awoken the first night by a crash in the front inside of our tent. I had forgotten and left some gum in my shorts pocket on a chair. We think we either left the side bottom zipper open or a raccoon unzipped it and snatched it outside and got the gum. It really gets your attention at 2:30 in the morning.
So beautiful. You should put a whole day aside. Next time I go I am definitely staying in the cabin so I can spend two days there because of all the beautiful views and trails. It is something else to view.
Amazing national park! I did a 4 day solo hike in the park. I did not meet any human during all my stay. Very quiet, beautiful views and amazing hikes. Some of the holes can be very strenuous for inexperienced hikers. There are lots of places to camp if you know what you are doing. Be careful of snakes and bears as they are plenty in the most secluded part of the park. Also check for water levels before going as some of the rivers were dry during the summer. I highly recommend it!
Its a true nature place. Plenty to see and do in the park, skyline drive is an amazing experience and lot of click opportunities for camera. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. You will find deers while driving in the park.
You pay $30 to enter, which is good for 7 days passing in or out in any direction. Stay at one of the lodges, and hike one or more of the many incredible hikes rated easy to difficult. The Appalachian trail passes through here and this piece is very well maintained. The park is clean and houses many bears, deer, and migrating birds. The vibe is campy but endearing, and you won't regret this trip.
I have visited this place in fall and in summer and I really like it the most in fall. The weather is cool and the trees colors are so gorgeous. I highly recommend that you come in weekdays, so you can enjoy the overlooks and scenery of the street without rushing, and if you live near, you should buy the annual pass because it is cheaper than one entry. About the overlooks, some of them have hidden paths that you can walk to see spectacular view of the mountains. You just have to pay more attention to signs they have at the overlooks. There are picnic areas. If you are planning to have picnic there, I advise you to look at their map that they provide upon entry so you can spot the picnic area since there are not many of them near.
Shenandoah National Park is beautiful like many other beautiful places near or part of the Appalachian Mountains. The main feature of the park is Skyline Drive a serene and picturesque auto road with many pull offs to take in some of the most beautiful views this park has to offer. © Jerome Mogie Glover All rights reserved
