Chiesa di San Francesco (San Marino)
La chiesa di San Francesco è una chiesa di città di San Marino.
Il convento annesso e la chiesa inizialmente avevano sede a Murata, presso la città di San Marino, ma poi papa Clemente VII concesse lo spostamento della chiesa e del convento nella città di San Marino perché a Murata c'era pericolo di incursioni dei Malatesta.
La costruzione venne cominciata nel 1351 e terminata verso il 1400, per la costruzione furono usati i materiali della chiesa e del convento soppresso. Il rosone fu coperto nel seicento ma è stato riportato alla luce nell'ultima ristrutturazione eseguita da Gino Zani che l'ha riportata in gran parte alle linee originarie.. Alla costruzione parteciparono sia maestranze sammarinesi che comacine, infatti vi figurano i nomi di Mastro Battista da Como e Mastro Manetto Sammarinese. Nel chiostro si trova la tomba del vescovo Marino Madroni, vissuto nel quattrocento che apparteneva ai frati minori conventuali. Nell'attiguo Museo San Francesco sono conservate tele del Guercino.

a dead Christ with St. Francis and Apollonia. On each vault are newer frescos representing different saints. It is a very modest interior, well lighted. The exterior is constructed of sandstone blocks with a cloister and a quadrangular bell tower. Four columns, resting on two walls, support the porch roof. There is a single arched entry portal.

On the altar is a painting from the 15th century depicting a dead Christ with St. Francis and Apollonia. On each vault are newer frescos representing different saints. We only came inside here because we had the multi-museum pass otherwise I don't think it's worth it. There are some religious artefacts and paintings here and also a very bizarre temporary exhibition by an artist painting himself in various poses (including looking crazed and naked crouching on a bed!)
